Changes for this website: source scene transforms rebuilt; badges, raised model lettering and readable plates removed; roof glazing replaced with opaque painted body material; compact third-row seat geometry added; eight named glass surfaces separated into five selectable regions; a new pearl/graphite PBR material palette applied; secondary geometry simplified; painted doors and roof preserve selected source normals; reversed opposite-door winding is corrected; redundant/degenerate triangles removed; positions/normals quantized with KHR_mesh_quantization; units/orientation normalized. No source textures are used. All materials are stored in the GLB. The adapted vehicle is an illustration for selecting glass regions; it is not manufacturer CAD. BMW and its contributors do not endorse this website or DOVA. Sedan geometry (current version) -------------------------------- Original work: 2024 Tesla Model 3. The model is adapted for DOVA's illustrative selection interface. The creator and vehicle manufacturer do not endorse DOVA. Sedan geometry and trim textures (previous version, retained for provenance) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original work: Low Poly Car - BMW E46 1998. Creator: ROH3D (https://sketchfab.com/roh3d). The mirror's THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md separately attributes this asset to ROH3D under CC BY4.0. The source asset retains its own license. Changes for this website: the painted body material was replaced to remove body badges, recessed grille geometry was added, and neutral metal hub caps cover wheel-centre marks. The original spoke/lamp/trim texture detail is retained, with licensed texture maps reduced to1024px. Six named glass regions were separated from the original window geometry. Cabin and door-card materials were darkened; units and orientation were normalized. Texture maps are embedded in the GLB. The original solid painted roof is retained. ROH3D and BMW do not endorse this website or DOVA. Daylight environment and runtime materials (28 October 2026) ---------------------------------------------------------- Both adapted vehicles receive navy metallic paint in the web renderer. SUV headlamp lenses use a transmissive material. The GLB source geometry is retained. The glass display uses the approved DOVA HEX/VLT data and a shared linear-light transmission approximation; this is not a measured optical or spectral model. The courtyard environment is an original AI-generated 360-degree illustration: Image Gen asset exec-172acf69-80a1-4e3e-926e-15e1d82b087c, 1774 x 887 pixels. Brief: empty contemporary glass/stone villa courtyard, tropical planting, grey paved driveway, natural afternoon sun, no cars, people, text or logos. The original PNG was converted to WebP quality 88 without cropping or recoloring. It is used for background and environment reflections, not as a DOVA project photo. Ground-projected environment helper: three.js GroundedSkybox, r170. https://github.com/mrdoob/three.js/blob/r170/examples/jsm/objects/GroundedSkybox.js MIT license; see /vendor/three/LICENSE.txt. Only the local import path and trailing whitespace were changed. Seven-seat selectable glass update (28 October 2026) --------------------------------------------------- The original second-row door windows and fixed rear quarter windows are now separate left/right meshes (middleSide and rearSide), retaining their original geometry, paint, split normals, source attribution and CC BY 4.0 license. Rebuild: website/tools/repair-suv.py; the assembled source hash is checked. Cabin daylight and depth rendering update (28 October 2026) --------------------------------------------------------- The runtime scales direct sunlight on cabin materials by the RGB transmission of the active window configuration, weighted by actual glass area projected towards the fixed scene sun. Diffuse sky/environment light is weighted by total glass area and its transmission, retaining light from clear panes. Source upholstery colour is preserved. This is an illustrative light balance, not measured illuminance or a full spectral/path-traced simulation. A small forward polygon offset on the navy paint resolves nearly coplanar surface speckles after mesh quantization. No geometry, source asset or attribution is replaced by this change. V6 delivery and source-normal repair ------------------------------------ The same licensed source vehicles, exterior style, navy runtime paint and six/ eight selectable glass surfaces are retained. Previous-runtime source GLBs are kept in Git at commit 29d5f4c (see each manifest for SHA256 and byte count). Rebuild with website/tools/optimize-vehicles.py and optimize-vehicles.mjs, using Blender 4.3, Python/Pillow/NumPy, Node 20+ and unpacked meshoptimizer 1.3.0. The assembled SUV input is verified by its previously recorded SHA256. Geometry delivery uses EXT_meshopt_compression (meshoptimizer 1.3.0, MIT; see /vendor/meshopt/LICENSE.txt). Locality reordering preserves oriented faces; shared index streams are kept together. Glass positions, normals, UVs and indices are byte-identical after decoding. Untextured opaque material UV streams are omitted. Texture conversions use EXT_texture_webp with exact RGBA pixel equality; unused cockpit screen-emission maps are removed. Non-glass normal packing uses 16-bit octahedral encoding; maximum measured angular difference is under 0.004284 degrees. Base material colours and model silhouettes are preserved. The two cockpit-screen materials no longer emit unintended 10x light into the cabin; exterior lamp materials are retained. Only the sedan's black wheel/tire groups are simplified, with locked borders, normal/UV weighting and a 0.6 mm Meshopt estimated absolute-error limit. This estimator is not an independently measured surface Hausdorff error. Body and glass oriented position triangles are unchanged. The SUV exterior paint panel uses authored split normals recovered from the verified assembled source; 123 ambiguous triangles retain their current normals. No body position moves. Each optimized GLB is below 2,000,000 bytes; exact sizes, hashes, geometry proof and normalization bounds are in the adjacent manifests. Mobile rendering mode, loading state and source-credit placement are runtime changes, documented in the website review. Physical-phone frame rate and optical calibration are not certified by cloud/SwiftShader tests. V7 runtime cabin and panel adaptation (29 October 2026) The same two optimized GLBs, navy exterior paint, geometry and licensing remain. The sedan cabin alone uses dark gray (#2B2D31) instead of the source white seat/ dash trim; exterior lamps sharing original materials retain their appearance. A cosmetic dark seam overlay follows welded panel boundaries and hard folds, without moving body positions or rewriting source normals. Its strict 1.2x seam-to-adjacent-body brightness target is not yet verified at every required view; visual and pixel evidence are documented in review/v7/REPORT.md. Every checked glass pane receives its own selected film; unchecking restores clear glass. Focusing a pane moves the camera rather than clearing other panes.
